In the spirit of history and inspiration, the elegant Hourglass Art & Wine Gallery recently presented the unveiling of a masterpiece depicting the courageous and honorable Tuskegee Airman. Created by artist Greg “The Glass Man” Holder, the original artwork pays tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen, Red Tails.
The visually stunning piece features the craftsmanship and artistry of Holder, a former professional athlete with the Oakland Raiders whose signature style masterfully captures the true essence of the air carrier through fine translucent glass.
Also in attendance was ninety year-old John Riley—one of the original 300 surviving members of the all African American squadron. The legendary Riley, a member of the Los Angeles chapter, was honored at the red carpet event and was all smiles as guests frequently walked up to him requesting autographs and photos. One woman was overheard emotionally saying, “I can’t believe I’m in the presence of a true living hero! This man went through so much. It’s because of him and the others that we’re in a much better place in this country.”
The George Lucas Film Red Tails opens nation wide in theaters on January 20th. Check your local listings.
