The biggest and brightest entertainers in the business have walked these decks for the past three years from Karen Clark-Sheard to Erica Campbell but this year “the Prince of Praise,” Byron Cage was the singing sensation and featured headliner. Cage brought the crowd to their feet with hit after hit from his extended list of songs spanning 20 years in the music industry.

M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records, Inc. compiled an outstandingly talented lineup for this “praisefest,” that included Gospel on Demand radio hosts, Evangel and Walter Ko, internet sensation and comedian, KevOnStage, M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records, Inc. artists, Archie Robinson and New Birth Praise, Men 4 Christ, the San Diego Super Choir, and Hip Hop artists, Arch Angel & Egypt; as well as the remarkably talented Divine Praise Dancers of Los Angeles and Journey Community Church Praise and Worship Team.

Bayside Gospel Concert aboard the Midway is an exciting summer sensation that involves transforming the flight deck of the multi-storied vessel into a sanctuary under the sun and stars. With the help of co-sponsors like the San Diego Urban League and the Midway Diversity Committee, a collection of politicians, city officials, community leaders, church officials, tourists and anyone who loves gospel music, filled the flight deck for an outdoor concert that went on into the night.

Amidst the replicas of warplanes and wartime memorabilia the praise of individuals from all walks of life could be heard atop the ship designed for military maneuvers, now adapted into a floating sanctuary for record-breaking crowds who find the music and the cause behind the concert rewarding.

The benefactors of these concerts are the veteran organizations who help our selfless and sacrificing members of the armed forces stationed all over the world. Along with their families, these servicemen and women are honored for putting others before themselves and protecting our freedoms and liberty. And we’re looking towards 2017 as being our most phenomenal year yet as the Midway Board of Directors, M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records, Inc. and community leaders’ work together to bring diversity to this floating museum and symbol of our commitment to honor and acknowledge our military and their loved ones.
